No. A regular aircon does not remove formaldehyde. It cools and dehumidifies by recirculating the air already in the room over a cold coil, so it has no way to break down or trap the gas. Cooling slows off-gassing a little while the room is cold, but the formaldehyde is still there. And because the aircon runs with windows shut, fresh air stops coming in and levels can build up.
Does aircon remove formaldehyde?
