Retail & F&B

Fit-out smell gone before you open

A new shop or restaurant fit-out smells like a new shop or restaurant fit-out, and customers notice on day one. Kitchens then build up their own odour for years. We supply the products that handle both.

Why this sector needs it

Retail and F&B run to an opening date, and the fit-out finishes days before it. New shopfronts, counters, banquette seating, shelving and MDF joinery all go in at once and then off-gas into a sealed, air-conditioned unit with customers walking in. After opening the problem changes shape: kitchens accumulate grease and cooking odour, back-of-house holds it, and it drifts into the dining room. Different compounds, same result — people notice, and in this trade noticing means a review. We supply operators, fit-out contractors and facilities teams the products for both stages.

What you're dealing with

The fit-out ends days before opening

There is no month of airing out. Joinery, seating and shelving go in, the unit gets handed over, and it opens — formaldehyde and VOCs still coming off everything.

Customers judge on the first breath

A chemical smell in a new shop or a stale one in a restaurant reads as cheap or unclean before anyone has seen the product or the menu.

Kitchens build odour permanently

Grease and cooking VOCs settle into back-of-house surfaces and stay. Cleaning removes the deposit but not always the smell it left behind.

How we treat it

1

Treat the fit-out before handover

Apply the Formaldehyde Remover across new counters, joinery, shelving and seating as the fit-out completes, so the unit opens without the chemical smell.

2

Hold the kitchen and back-of-house

Deodoriser PRO on service areas, back-of-house surfaces and soft seating, on a schedule that fits your cleaning cycle.

3

Roll it across the estate

Multi-outlet operators order in bulk with trade pricing and one application method for every site.

Questions

Yes. It is touch dry in about 30 minutes and cured in 2–3 hours, so most operators treat overnight after the fit-out signs off. Avoid wiping treated surfaces for 3–5 days.

The products are water-based, non-corrosive and certified non-toxic to OECD 420. Apply to surfaces as directed and let them cure fully; keep it off surfaces that come into direct contact with food.

Deodoriser PRO neutralises the VOCs behind cooking odour. It works on the smell, not the deposit — degrease first, then treat, or the source keeps regenerating it.
